Selected in the Top 10 of Prix du Public UBS by the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2017, Max Harvey is a passionate singer-songwriter and guitarist. He offers an energetic and generous style inspired by Prince, Sting, Roosevelt, Jamiroquai and Jason Mraz.
His melodies and grooves are easy to listen to and colored. His music features a strong and powerful tenor voice, some crying guitars in the style of Santana and some tight guitar riffs with a touch of Nile Rodgers. The groovy bass lines as well as the gigantic synths coming directly from the 80’s are also part of his songs. His choruses are recognizable and unifying. His texts written in English mention sensitive human subjects like grief, breakups, depression and some other philosophical messages of hope.
A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Max Harvey financed his studies during 5 years with the help of many American and Swiss donors. He obtained his first scholarship at the Berklee Guitar Session contest in 2010 when he finished 5th overall. Frank Racette (Duke Ellington) quickly recognized Max’s talent and became his musical mentor.
Mostly self taught, Max learned to play guitar alone as a teenager before attending Berklee on scholarship. During his teenage years in mandatory school, he was a failing and bullied student dealing with depression. He also thought that he “sucked at music”. However, his passion and determination have helped him to overcome his limiting thoughts and succeed in the musical world.
His song "Let Me Be A Kid Again" is now being played in the Spotify playlists "Best Songs of All Time" et "Happy Songs 2025".
