The Berne-based beat maker, rapper, DJ and recording studio owner "Meisterbeatz" came into contact with hip-hop culture in 1991. Fascinated by rhythms and rhymes since childhood, he began to write Swiss German lyrics and recorded them on self-produced beats on cassette tapes. Over the years, he developed himself from self-taught home recording rookie into a producer on the international music scene.
Meisterbeatz has the reputation of being an exceptionally diverse producer. Musically he could best be described as a worldwide infused beat smith. He's inspired, for example, by the soulful funk of Roy Ayers, the unique beat making of J Dilla and DJ Premier and the psychedelic Brazil jazz fusion of Azymuth. He mixes the "Boombap" with science fiction soundscapes and lets beats keep the human touch instead of quantizing them. Synthesizers, drum machines, samples and collaborations with musicians - from this melting pot he constantly creates new potential and sets standards.
His affinity to "international affairs" led Meisterbeatz to the Czech Republic (1999), to the MC "Freestyle" (ex-The Arsonists, NYC, 2004), to the South Africa / Switzerland exchange project Rogue State of Mind (2004-2009, with two CDs and tours with live bands), to remix-contests (Vindal feat Coco, Denmark, 2012) and to South Africa (tour with Burni Aman, 2015). In Switzerland he worked with pioneer Black Tiger (2000/2015), Wurzel 5 (2001), his own group Whodis? (from 1996), as winner of the producer contest for the EP "Berne City Allstarz" (2002) and on the beat maker compilation "Beat Enoteca (2013)." There were also productions with Baze, Greis, MC Rony and Kaiser & Dimitri. In the course of many years of working with Burni Aman (Cape Town / Berne), the single "Masters of the Human Verse" was created, together with her and Jean Grae from Brooklyn (2019). The song will appear on the following EP "Beatronaut" which also features other well-known artists from the USA, England, South Africa and Switzerland.
