Delicate, vibrant texture meets conflicting emotions and stomping simplicity. MERLAINE transforms human experiences of fusion and emancipation in an honest but dreamy way: Yet idealistic, sometimes raw and nostalgic, but intimate and expressive at the same time.
Based on the solo project of singer-songwriter Daria Lanz the band consistent of Adrian Bissegger (guitar), Nicolas Burgy (drums) and Michèle Jöhr (bass) was founded 2024 for a concert at Nouveau Monde at the occasion of the Fête de la musique in Fribourg. Good vibrations lay ahead and MERLAINE had the chance to play on a few renowned Swiss venues like Café Bar Mokka Thun, Gustav - Bierhübeli Bern and Old Capitol Langenthal. In February 2025 MERLAINE recorded their first EP Letting go with Louis Jucker in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
As Americana enthusiasts, influences from Country, Rock, Blues and Soul can be witnessed in their songs, which are processed into individual cross-genred creations of spheric and rhythmic sound. With her velvety voice Daria wraps her listeners into a cosy coat of comfort, allowing them to pause for a moment and immerse themselves in her thoughts.
