Miami Art is the independent music project of European songwriter and producer Maren Mueller - a place where alternative pop, soul, indie, rock and hip-hop coexist without asking permission from a genre.
The current chapter began in a small home studio, with a finished collection of songs now being released one by one.
But Miami Art did not begin there. Before this project, Maren toured Germany, Austria and Switzerland with another musical project, sharing stages and tours with Thirty Seconds to Mars, Culcha Candela, Biohazard and AJ McLean. Highlights included playing in a football stadium during the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany - and fulfilling one bucket-list dream: Rock am Ring.
Done.
Today, the joy is different: disappearing into a small studio, experimenting, jamming, getting things wrong and catching the tiny spark from which a song grows.
For the first time, it feels completely free.
No label. No publisher. No booking agency. No permission required.
Success is not the starting point. The song is.
Songs sometimes feel less like things we invent and more like gifts that arrive. My job is to catch them, shape them with my hands, ears and love for music, and let them go.
If people love them, wonderful. If they don't, that's okay too.
I have to love them first.
When an idea finally has shape and still moves me after the 200th listen, I know it's ready.
Then I let it out into the light.
Made at home. Made with freedom. Made to travel.
