Michel Valdes, singer, composer and charismatic frontman, comes from a musical family from Matanzas, Cuba. Music was introduced to him from a young age. As the son of Clemente Valdes Fernández, a professional guitarist and singer, it was clear that his inclination and passion for music was inevitable. He began his musical career at the age of 8 and took part in various children's festivals.
Michel grew up with the great and gentle melodies of Cuban music. He trained as a professional musician at the Rafael Somavilla Superación de Arte school in Matanzas. There he took his first steps as a singer under the guidance of his singing teacher Esteban Taylor, who had also previously taught his father. His career in Cuban music groups is impressively long and includes important formations such as Orquesta Tropicana, Banda Brava, Costa Latina, Grupo Tiempos, Héctor Daniel y la Constelación and many others.
In 2001 and 2002, his collaboration with Tinguaro from the Canary Islands led to a nomination for the "Premios Lucas". The album "Jugando con el tiempo" (2001), produced by the Cuban musician Pucho López and recorded at the Eusebio Delfín studios in Cienfuegos, Cuba, reached third place in its category.
In Switzerland, Michel Valdes has expanded his musical versatility by performing in various salsa formations such as Limón y Menta, Batambo, El Zorro, Ángel Bonne, Mi Tumbao and Copacabana. He also works on projects that include other musical styles. His passion, charisma and talent have made him a fixture on the music scene in Cuba, his new homeland of Switzerland and even other European countries.
