"Mikael Hopkins was born in 1978 in Switzerland. After a sport-axed childhood stopped by a long and serious illness, he began to play folk and electric guitar as a teenager. He joined various punk or garage band as guitarist and/or singer. During all that time, he followed his way as a singer-songwriter, composing a huge amount of songs during the last years.
His several projects allowed him to play in national and international venues or festivals (Belgium, France, Ireland, USA and so on).
His Folk-Americana side has already been heard on many radio, here in Switzerland, in France and in the US. Remember this “Flying horse” song (last song of Y825 first LP)…. A title that has been compared to Neil Young by the well-known journalist/critic Gerard Sutter (Radio Paradiso - RSR La 1ère).
This duality and musical schizophrenia, tearing him apart between his wild rock’n’roll side and his americana folk sadness, is an artistic metaphor of his own life…Huge joys, huge pains, huge life and work respect…. but, isn’t it everybodies life!?
After playing some of his songs in California and Nevada during 2009’s fall, and regarding the damn good feeling related to it, he decided to go ahead with this solo project, in order to share all those intimate songs with real people, here in Switzerland, in Paris or again in the US. "
