Biography
Monkey’s Touch is back on stage !
The energy of their tribal funk, furiously danseable and playfull, entrancing and eccentric, turns each of their shows in an unique event. Influenced by the music of the 80’s, (rock, psychedelic pop, punk, soul, jazz-rock and afrobeat), Monkey’s Touch sounds like a crazy son of King Crimson and Fela Anikulapo Kuti. The band give a good place to improvisation, and never forgets its essential aim, the pleasure of groove and public.
From 82 to 91, Monkey’s Touch has performed on many swiss and european stages, (Chat Noir, Hot Point, Leysin, Paléo, Gurten, New-Morning Paris, Midem, Gradus ad Parnassum Moscou), and has composed a huge original repertoire. In 2011, the members of the basic trio, Jean-Marc Pasquet, singer and novellist, Thierry Clerc, guitarist, Denis Favrichon, bassist, gathered their numerous experiences again. With the drumming of Anthony Cohen, and Jean-Philippe Swahlen as second guitarist, Monkey’s Touch starts touring again, adding a lot of new songs to its repertoire.
« The fusion operated by Monkey’s Touch remains unique. Their musique is at the same time exotic and modern, warm and stormy, poetic and danceable. What an achieved experience ! »
