Warm summer air. An old cassette player on the windowsill.
The tape crackles softly before the first chord sets in.
Mono Mochi sound strangely familiar – moving between indie rock and dream pop with a natural ease that feels intimate, yet distinctly their own.
Emerging from Lucerne, Switzerland, the band was born from a desire to approach music as something human again – something allowed to grow. Working independently, Mono Mochi produce their songs themselves, recording on an old 1980s tape machine. A conscious choice for warmth, patience and imperfection.
Their music combines the vastness of The War On Drugs with the playful coolness of Mac DeMarco and the softness of Men I Trust. In a warm analogue glow, melodies unfold, shaped by lyrics balancing quiet irony, tender melancholy and a sense of restless wanderlust.
With their debut album in 2024, Mono Mochi began drawing attention beyond national borders and received international radio play – from SRF and Byte FM to stations in the Netherlands and Latvian National Radio, as well as US college radio stations and airplay across South America. In September 2026, their second studio album follows – deeper and marked by a new sense of urgency. It reflects a band that has learned through making music what it truly wants to say – and what it doesn’t.
Music that doesn’t try to prove anything – and for that very reason lingers.
