With her debut single "Grey Cloud," released in 2022, Myla Lei opened the door to her own emotional world.
"Grey Cloud" was not only the starting point of her career but also marked the beginning of an in-depth exploration of mental health.
After the song's release, she was invited for an interview on SRF in the format „punkt CH“, and "Grey Cloud" made its debut on the radio. When asked if she had plans for an EP, Myla Lei responded cautiously – but it was clear that more was on the horizon.
With her second single "Around the Sun," Myla Lei expanded her perspective, reflecting on the global pain and collective uncertainty experienced during the pandemic. In a world that suddenly seemed to stand still, she questioned the sense of alienation many felt and the accompanying desire to retreat into personal "bubbles."
"Around the Sun" captures the confusion and longing that many experienced during this time: How do we move forward as a society after all this? What does it mean for humanity to unite in an increasingly fragmented world? The questions Myla Lei raises in this song are not just personal—they are universal, touching on the fears and hopes of an entire generation.
Her latest single "Dollhouse" Myla Lei describes as a love letter to her home country, Switzerland. This love letter, in addition to its picturesque imagery, also carries a critical undertone: "Switzerland was made for puppets – it's so sweet and perfect." Is the appearance to the outside world more important than what is happening inside? Love is not always easy; it requires effort from all sides to keep a relationship loving, healthy, and intact. Can Switzerland evolve, or will it remain frozen in the state of a dollhouse?
These questions, along with many others, form the emotional and thought-provoking foundation of Myla Lei’s upcoming EP „My Head Is Alright“, set to be released in May 2025. The songs on this EP address themes such as the tension between personal expectations and the challenges of the world, as well as the mental and emotional tolls of living in an increasingly interconnected and fast-paced world. At the same time, the EP serves as a musical invitation to keep your head in the game and to not lose hope, reminding us that we are all part of a shared community and that we are not alone in our struggles.
