NAIVE ULTRA is an experimental indie pop collective around Luca Hann based in Basel. The name stands for radical vulnerability and the attempt to counter a rationally exuberant world. The global citizens from Switzerland, Chile and Germany challenge boundaries not only in terms of space and content – by criticising gender roles, injustices and a life lived according to a set pattern – but also musically, where contrasts are a key creative tool: gentle/soft meets heavy/dark. The delicate, often polyphonic vocals with their evocative lyrics meet an eclectic sound that at times oscillates between earthy grunge and stoner rock elements and electronic-psychedelic influences. As a distinctive musical element, the harp also acts as a bridge between worlds: at times dreamy and gentle, at others distorted and screeching. Together with the highly visual imagery of the lyrics, the listener is easily transported into the imaginative and melancholic sphere of NAIVE ULTRA. The collective consists of Luca (guitar, vocals), Lea Kaya (harp), Michael Prior (guitar), Naiomi Natalia Ruiz Segovia (bass), Katharina (acoustic) and Mario Hann (drums).
Following his debut in 2023 with the coming-of-age album *Honest But Unclear*, the EP *DISILLUSIONS* was released in spring 2026. It explores the experience of having illusions exposed for what they are. In particular, the EP questions the idealisation of the heteronormative romantic couple, which has caused suffering for many people across several generations and prevented them from freely exploring other concepts. Thanks to Lucas’s pitch-shifted voice, the sound feels more electronic and dystopian. On 27 September 2025, FAUST, the EP’s first single, celebrated its release with a video clip at the HUMBUG Club in Basel. The EP celebrated its release on 13 February 2026 at the Flight 13 Recordstore in Freiburg.
