Nina Valotti makes dialect pop for anyone who isn’t quite sure where they’re heading yet – but is getting rather good at forging their own path. In a personal, direct style and with a healthy dose of self-confidence, the Zurich-based musician writes about change, feeling overwhelmed, relationships and the courage to take oneself seriously.
In 2025, Nina Valotti released her debut album *Fang nomal a* and played around 40 gigs across Switzerland. March 2026 saw a highlight of her career so far: being named SRF 3 Best Talent at the Swiss Music Awards.
Live, she consistently performs alone on stage. Using an electric guitar, synthesiser, samples and loops, she builds her songs herself and makes being a solo artist a central part of her artistic identity.
Her new EP, *Nüt isch für immer (au wänn i das wett)*, created in collaboration with producer Luca Burkhalter, is due for release in autumn 2026. It explores a contradiction that runs through Nina Valotti’s current music: the desire to hold on to things whilst realising that everything is constantly changing anyway.
The new songs tell of decisions and their consequences, of moments when it all becomes too much, of being in between, and of the question of what actually happens when you stop trying to fit into predefined patterns.
Nina Valotti sounds more self-assured than ever. She writes about being different, about big dreams and about not having to constantly explain one’s own path – without pretending that this means all doubts have vanished. Perhaps you don’t actually have to have figured everything out. Sometimes it’s enough to trust your own ideas, let your imagination run wild a little, and just set off.
