Driving riffs, winding bass lines, and an energy that simultaneously screams indie rock and melancholy – that’s no phase, a four-piece band from Bern. Inspired by alternative peers such as King Hannah, Warpaint, and Dehd, no phase craft a shoegaze sound infused with post-punk influences.
In February 2024, they released their debut EP «tired» – four tracks that shift between raw, unrestrained intensity and warm, introspective atmospheres. When no phase perform live, their sound condenses into an impenetrable cloud of haze, from which shimmering fragments of guitar emerge again and again.
The band was formed in 2021 somewhere between a highway overpass and a bus depot in Bern. Following their first shows as a four-piece in 2023, including performances at HSLU in Lucerne, Cylure in Lausanne, and Gaswerk Winterthur, they released their debut EP «tired» through Table Basse Records in spring 2024.
Their song «lovestream» earned a nomination at the Demotape Clinic of the M4Music Festival, while other tracks received airplay on Swiss radio stations such as Kanal K and Couleur3. In autumn, the band embarked on the «tired» release tour, playing eight shows across the German-speaking part of Switzerland, the French-speaking region, and France. One of the highlights was supporting Deeper (US), a major musical influence on the band.
In 2025, no phase released the single «grounding» through the Bern-based label Oh, Sister Records. The track secured the band a place in the Top 10 of Luca Bruno’s (SRF 3) «Best Of CH-Sounds! 2025».
With their latest single «in between», no phase open the next chapter of their journey. The song serves as a gentle introduction to their upcoming EP «trigger», which is set for release this fall.
