Pierre Ducarroz grew up in Mons, Belgium. As a teenager, he wrote his first songs and performed in various cabaret venues, particularly in Brussels. After studying osteopathy in England, he returned to continental Europe and released his debut album, Attention on s’aime (1983), followed by Ducarroz s’éclate (1988). That same year, he packed the Montreux Casino, backed by renowned musicians, for a spectacular live performance.
After a musical hiatus of more than 35 years, Pierre Ducarroz returns under the stage name Oncle Pi. With the release of his debut EP, C’est l’Oncle Pi, he breathes new life into his career as a singer-songwriter and performer. It may seem paradoxical for someone who has just retired to embark on a new artistic chapter at a time when most people are looking forward to a well-earned rest. But anyone familiar with the artist knows this is perfectly in character. Endlessly energetic, Oncle Pi picked up his pen and guitar again during the COVID pandemic. Since then, he has been writing constantly, delighting in wordplay and turning language inside out with wit, finesse, and humour.
His sense of humour shines through in his signature song, which tackles the very subject of growing older and all the little troubles that come with it. With cheeky charm, warmth, and tenderness, Oncle Pi transforms the challenges of ageing into songs that are both entertaining and deeply relatable.
