Biography
HISTORY:
P-ASH began as a fictional band in a movie called “Der Hexenstein”, which premiered in March 2013 in Kinepolis Schaffhausen. The movie was a Jugendprojekt and was funded by the Kulurfoerderung Schaffhausen. The song that was part of the movie, "Just a Family", was number one on the Reverbnation Charts in Schaffhausen over Christmas 2014.
Since then all the girls have finished their studies and at the beginning of 2016 we decided to record another song to see what we could come up with and the Demotape Clinic was the perfect motivation to restart the band in non-fictional form with the latest single - "Shipwrecked".
The song was composed by Giles Hulley (also the writer/director of the movie) and performed by Olivia Stauffer and Cindy Manser - both from Schaffhausen. It was recorded and produced at Erdloch studios in Schaffhausen, by Baskhkim Nimnaij and Giles Hulley.
THE BAND CONCEPT:
P-ASH functions as a production band at the moment; meaning Giles Hulley is the composer/producer with a changing line-up of singers dependent on availability and interest. Olivia Stauffer, an original member of the band sings soprano and Cindy Manser - a singer from Schaffhausen - sings Alto. Both perform regularly in the local choir 'Salto Corale'.
There are no live shows at the moment. However, a show is being planned for late 2016.
STYLE DIRECTION:
P-ASH has evolved with the influences towards a fusion of pop music with classical/orchestral instruments. The idea is to create songs with emotional power using both the power of harmonised voice, orchestral arrangement with pop sensibilities.
The planned show will include visual narrative and dramatic elements with the revelatory power of the choir and orchestra working their magic.
Check out the first attempt at this fusion with our latest single: “SHIPWRECKED”!
