Irish born in lancashire, England, in 1939, Paul McNeill came to the guitar in 1961 after his grandmother was introduced to irish Folk songs. He left for paris with Alex Campbell, with six songs of his own, beginning a long career as a composer-singer-gutariste, which will take him to Greece, Yugoslavia, Turkey.
The global wave of folk is already firmly established at the Troubadour in London, the Folk equivalent of the Olympia in Paris. Concert with Paul Simon in all England and one in Scotland, Paul McNeill produced records under the brand Decca in 1965. Then taken disgust at the over-commercialization of his music, he left the main circuits and hit the road with his guitar, is devoted to composition, moved to Switzerland, where his intellectual curiosity led him to literary studies scholars.
(He passed away december 26, 1989 in Oslo, Norway)
