Although Phantom Dots is a relatively young project, the minds behind it have been musically active since the early 1990s. Stylistically, the two have gained experience together and separately in various bands across genres such as grunge, hard rock, pop punk, electronic and jazz rock/fusion, both in the studio and on stage.
With Phantom Dots, the duo processes both new material and existing compositions from their long-standing musical careers, presenting them in a fresh guise. The band’s goal is to realize their own musical vision, free from conventions and genre boundaries, and to bring songs into the world that are sometimes pleasing and accessible, while at other times take on a more experimental character, not immediately revealing themselves to the listener.
