Long, long time ago (about in 2004) three Swiss school friends decided to form a band. Raffael played the guitar, Patrik the drums and Marc tried to play the bass (they couldn’t use a saxophonist and Marc had to learn another instrument - he chose something not too complicated: the bass, just 4 strings, perfect). First they played in the basement of the drummer’s house but after several earthquake warnings in the apartment block next to them, they have rented a band room, in which they still make noise. They just played for fun, checked out different types of music and played with a few other musicians.
About two years later, Raffael quit the band because he wanted to become famous and thought he can’t reach this goals with this band (nowadays they all fully understand this step; Marc had should-length, blond hair and Patrik had a bigger bush on his head than Jimi Hendrix.) Marc and Patrik then were looking for a new guitarist and suddenly a tousled young man with strange hair appeared in their band room. He introduced himself as JP and the other guys were absolutely delighted with his ideas and guitar skills (and his “bird-nest hairstyle” was a good addition to their awful headdresses). Unfortunately nobody of them could sing (and worse: nobody of them realized that. And worst: they still gave concerts!).
But there came a day (in the meanwhile Marc got past the fear of hairdressers), they found a singer, hurray; Luana. She came, saw and conquered…No, in fact she had lots of problems with the strange and unorganized songs and tried to rearrange their songs and style. She had success and pureplay made plenty of new songs. They played an unplugged set as supporting act from Daniel Kandlbauer (famous Swiss musician, became 3th in a casting show) in 2008 and later they recorded their first Demo Tape with totally four songs. In 2009 pureplay had the opportunity to play at Greenfield Openair 2009 (biggest Swiss rock openair) during Mycokemusic-Contest.
Several concerts and a few new songs later a new old member joined pureplay: Raffael. He got bored of his unsuccessful solo career, which ended in alcohol, drugs and different divorces and he became again a member of the pureplay family (unfortunately the part with alcohol, drugs and divorces is invented by the writer of this text. If this really happened, I’m sure he had written some interesting lyrics). They have had so much fun together that they’ve made new songs again. Nowadays they have so many songs that they’ll never be able to play all of them (and never want to play all of them cause of some awful, waste songs).
In 2010 they recorded their potential hit “No Way” in a demo single tape and they all lived happily ever after… Hopefully, cause pureplay is still alive and they want to cheer up the whole world with their powerful music. Five ambitious, young musicians with a lot of fun in what they do and a common dream, that’s pureplay.
