Quippo is the solo project of Swiss singer and songwriter Guido Philipona from Fribourg. His musical journey began on stage with the rock band Lawman, followed by 15 years with the a cappella group Abakustiker, where he was involved in compositions and arrangements as well as singing. Since 2010, he has also been performing with the Swiss a cappella formation AGsang, which he leads.
With Quippo, Guido explores his love of groove, pop and the timeless sound of the 1970s. His music combines retro influences with contemporary production, creating songs that feel nostalgic without sounding dated.
His current single “Disco King” is a perfect example: a high-energy blend of retro disco and modern pop, featuring Australian-Chinese artist Blake Yue, currently based in Perth. A driving groove, rap elements and a surprising touch of flamenco guitar give the track its distinctive character.
Quippo brings together decades of musical experience with a playful and contemporary approach to pop – always with a strong sense of melody, rhythm and groove.
