Biography
Of torches and rivers... As contrasting as these two components appear, they are very similar. Powerful and unruly, mystical, but also calm and very idyllic to the point of being vulnerable, both elements can appear. Out of control, they pave their own way, dripping and blazing.
Sometimes rough times shape the existence and the essence of the band Riverbanks. In search of new challenges to ingenuity and creativity, new ideas form and new influences pave their way. Going through such processes has shaped and continues to shape the development of the band from Lalden, sometimes sending the five friends through storm & wind, but also welding them even closer together. It gives them the opportunity to create a greater whole together.
So it's not surprising that their unmistakable style allows inputs from different genres to flow together and has already landed them a wide variety of gigs. Performances alongside Pegasus, Steffe la Cheffe, the Halunken and Phenomden are certainly among the highlights of such flotsam.
Invigorating drum rhythms, bitingly catchy guitar riffs but also polyphonic, sometimes choir-like vocals are typical features of their music and together they enter into a symbiosis that is most at home in rock and folk. New works are created in the common boat, which once again unites the different inflows in the form of ideas and conceptions of the band members and makes the mixture seem extraordinary. The music mainly spreads good humour, but at the same time makes you think, because the lyrics express positive joie de vivre and energy as well as metaphorical, poetic and sometimes critical themes. The songs and phrases are as varied as the band's individuals, but in the end they unite in the same waters and swim in the same direction. So that the river makes its way through all the turbulence and continues to flow unstoppably. ...keep on rockin' like a blaze in a storm!
