Safar Ensemble was created at the beginning from the meeting of 2 musicians:
Ahmad Mohammad, singer born in Bangladesh, jean-Daniel Stämpfli, musician Swiss composer.
1997, both musicians are sought for the recording of the CD " peacefull traveller ", from the Cape Verdean percussionist Valentino Ramos.
On 2002, the ASMIA association (Ass.des musiciens d’Ici et d’ailleurs) produces "Nûr" the first CD of Ahmad Mohamad
The texts of the songs of this album arise from the Indian and Bengladesh culture . The musics and arrangements are from Jean - Daniel Stämpfli's and were interpreted by about fifteen musicians of different horizons.
Safar Ensemble was formed after this recording.
