Rooted in hip-hop but open to all genres, Shmu transforms emotions and experiences into music that connects people and opens new worlds. For him, the process matters more than the outcome: music becomes a space of learning, inspiration, and expression beyond words.
While he cannot change global politics, he believes in making a difference within his own reality and inspiring those he encounters. Always open to collaborations, Shmu continues to explore sound as a force of connection and transformation.

In February 2025, Winterthur-based artist Shmu traveled to Kilifi, Kenya, where he collaborated with local rapper ZillerBas on a new album titled Mekatilili. The project was officially launched in August 2025 in Winterthur and went on to enter the Swiss charts at number 11.
Mekatilili tells the story of Mekatilili wa Menza, a fearless leader of the Mijikenda-Giriama community who rose up against British colonial rule in the early 20th century. By blending contemporary rap with historical storytelling, the album seeks to bring her legacy to life and highlight the role of powerful female figures in history.
Beyond its musical ambition, the project also aims to spark reflection on colonial history and inspire audiences with narratives of courage and resistance.
