The Buddy Holly of Garage Punk
Known as the upright bass player of the Swiss punk-rockabilly outfit The Peacocks, Simon Langhard releases his firs solo album „Alone“. A blend of 50’s Rock’n’Roll and Garage Punk, perhaps with a hint of 80’s Indie.
It will be out September the 25th, 2026 on his own record label Super Records. Available as LP/CD and digital on the usual streaming platforms.
There will be two advance single releases from the album: „Rhythm Bound“ (21/8/26) and „Last Day“ (4/9/26) as a 7“ record and on digital platforms.
A novelty for the Swiss distributor Irascible.
Simon Langhard, born 1973 in Zürich, Switzerland, played over 2000 shows worldwide and released over 10 albums with his band The Peacocks.
His debut solo album „Alone“ received an award from his hometown Schaffhausen, Switzerland. It contains 11 respectively 14 (CD and digital) original compositions and a cover of Wreckless Eric’s song „The Girl With The Wandering Eye“. Besides drumming, provided by The Peacocks’ Jürg Luder and David Karlinger (DeadBeatz), Simon Langhard played all the instruments himself. One piano track is by this 12 year old son. Even though the songs are recorded as if it were a real band - acoustic & electric guitar, bass, drums, vocals, sometimes piano - there is no real band behind it and therefore there are no (not yet) live shows planned.
The title of the album „Alone“ stands for two reasons: It was done alone, without a band. But the subject matter also revolves around being alone. That is also reflected in the cover artwork: The artist as a wax figure (only his head), opposites a bunch of dummies, without heads, but with perfect bodies. They are all identical, no presonality, no color. The artist’s head doesn’t belong to them, but he has a face and stands on illuminated letters, his initials.
