Biography
In her Debut, the Zurich/Bern based singer/songwriter Sister Phoebe sings in her mother-tongue for the first time. The single "Haferbrei mit Nüss" (transl. oatmeal with nuts) talks humorously about Phoebes lack of passion and intimacy in the mornings: How she prefers breakfast to kisses, coffee to hugs. Her voice is being accompanied all the while by a suggesting balkan beat, stomping trombones and a folky accordion. The song may be shocking to some, laughed at by others, but it brings life into every limb - be it stiff as it may.
As is the case in "Haferbrei mit Nüss" Sister Phoebe's other songs focus around everyday (or every second day) topics while trying to keep up their folk-characters.
Because of her theatrical way of being on and behind the stage as well as her bluntness Sister Phoebe has been known to several of her musician friends as the "Nina Hagen from Zurich" - a title which she is sure to bring forth in every conversation about her music with lots of pride and only a spoonful of timidness.
