One day somebody stated : “Switzerland does not exist! " It was many years ago and it was, if not totally true, not totally false either. Since then, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge and a new generation of musicians decided to leave this cumbersome legacy behind them. The Sophie de Quay trio perfectly represents this new multi-cultural generation open to the world. If the HQ of the trio is indeed based in Geneva, the group is most often on the road. All roads. From Switzerland, to Lebanon, Spain, China, Japan, India, Singapore, the francophone countries and to the United States. In just 4 years, the trio has given nearly 200 concerts in 15 different countries. The trio presents an electro pop which, whilst seeking to create bridges between aesthetics, illustrates their affinity with the cultural and geographical sound of music from around the world.
To consolidate this artistic trait, the singer and front woman Sophie can rely on the experience and talents of Tim and Simon, both graduated from renown music schools acquiring a solid stage experience, having performed on many different projects. Live, the band's rich electro pop is masterfully held together by these two multi instrumentalists, while Sophie, with her powerful and distinctive voice, creates an emotional and generous bond with the public allowing everyone to embark together on a special journey.
“Nomad with a mission”
The road the group is taking is based on a few irreducible values: love of music, of course, but also an open minded spirit and the desire to meet with other people. The lyrics of the song “Building Bridges” express this well: "I'm a dreamer, a globe trotter, I spend my life crossing borders, I’m a traveler, a nomad with a mission, Changes come from education!"
To meet its ends, the Sophie de Quay trio gives itself the means to achieve its ambitions. Without label or record company, its professional organization now guarantees total independence and the adequate tools to help them towards their destiny and be more daring and audacious, all the while staying true to themselves.
Big dreams. Why?
Since the debut EP in 2017 and their debut album “Drop the Mask“ in 2018, with a desire to forge close and lasting relationships with their many fans, the group has multiplied their appearances, both scenic and digital.
On their latest album “Y”, composed and produced by the trio, recorded in Paris at Benjamin Constant’s studio and mixed by Lionel Capouillez at Studio Air in Brussels, Sophie continues to follow her musical influences: she sings in English, French and Chinese, a country that is familiar to her since she has visited and lived there on several occasions. In her songs, she also takes the opportunity to probe the soul of "generation Y", a generation eager to free itself from some of its cumbersome inheritance.
Sophie: “On the eve of my 30th birthday, the first single to be released on October 16 on all digital platforms, will set the tone for a whole new story, a whole new disc and maybe even influence a whole generation. Quite an accomplishment.”
The album “Y” released on September 25, 2020.
