Biography
The music and art of STROY have often been compared to that of the late and honored Freddie Mercury & David Bowie, as well as later rock icons Muse. A massive discovery from modern Bohemia, many expect the band to become the next wild fire in music history, today.
Members: Michal Skorepa (Vocals), Jakub Antl (Bass), Milos Meier (Drums)
STROY are a band from Czech Republic. Michal Skorepa is a jazz/classical pianist at the Prague Conservatory; he also played the role of Jesus and Judas in Czech version of Jesus Christ Superstar. Milos Meier became the youngest ever to be named "Drummer of the Year" in the country, working with several of music icons, with projects ranging from jazz, orchestras, metal, drum clinics. Jakub Antl is a jazz/classic double-bass player. Because of his musical versatility and brilliant technique learned from his teenage years playing bass in rock bands, he fitted the band perfectly.
Stroy is a band based on artistic freedom. The metal, high technical quality and energy in Miloš's drumming, combined with Michal's dirty 90's grunge guitar sound and expressive singing, partly influenced by modern classical and jazz harmonies from Jakub's background, became the sound of the band.
Stroy released their debut "Adam Reborn" in late 2014. The single "Adam Reborn" was nominated #6 of the Top 10 local songs of 2014 by the biggest culture webzine in Czech Republic. The lyrics of the songs were mostly about the resurrection of mankind's forgotten instinct and returning to its nature. The music video of Adam Reborn rose to the top of various music programs and publications in Czech Republic.
In 2015, Stroy won the National Competition of The Global Battle of the Bands in Czech Republic. During the same year, they traveled to LA to record with producer Alain Johannes (Eleven, Arctic Monkeys, Chris Cornell, Queens of the Stone Age).
