The song refers to the Palestinian-American Author Edward Said, known for his book Orientalism, which speaks about how the west constructed the idea of the so called “orient” as mystical, emotional, uncivilized - while at the same time defining itself as the complete opposite: clear, rational, civilized. Locking these two sides in a logic of duality, the west justifies and legitimize it’s colonial actions. Mechanisms which are still active until this very moment.
