Mit «I Don’t Need More» veröffentlicht der niederländisch-schweizerische Musiker Max Berend sein zweites Instrumentalstück – ein beschwingter, frei atmender Ausflug im Hier und Jetzt des Folk-Jazz.
Nach seinem erfolgreichen Instrumental Debüt mit «Fishing at Little Bay», das u. a. von SRF 2 Kultur und Radio Nord Vaudois ins Programm aufgenommen wurde, bleibt Max Berend dem neuen Genre treu – und geht musikalisch noch einen Schritt weiter. Der Track fühlt sich an wie eine Entdeckungstour auf zwei Rädern, ein spontaner Sprung in einen unbekannten Zug oder ein Lauf durch eine fremde Stadt.
Das Stück erzählt vom Gefühl von Freiheit – und davon, dass man eigentlich nicht viel braucht, um es zu spüren. Das Bild, das Max Berend mit seiner Musik zeichnet: Zwei Freund:innen, eine Richtung, ein Ziel: das Jetzt. Berend überlässt erneut seinem Gitarrenspiel und Bettina Hummler am Klavier das Wort, begleitet von einer Band, die das Motiv mit Leichtigkeit und Tiefe weitertreibt. Der Song wurde, wie schon der Vorgänger, als One-Take live im selben Raum aufgenommen – direkt, lebendig und nah.

With «I Don’t Need More», Swiss-Dutch musician Max Berend releases his second instrumental track – a light-hearted, free-flowing dive into the here and now of folk-jazz.
Following the success of his instrumental debut «Fishing at Little Bay» – featured by national and local radios such as SRF 2 Kultur and Radio Nord Vaudois – Berend continues his exploration of the genre while taking a bold step forward. This new track feels like riding a bike through unknown streets, catching a train without a destination, or running through a city that’s not yet your own.
The song reflects on the feeling of freedom – and how little it really takes to feel it. The image behind the music: two friends, one direction, one goal – the present moment. Once again, Berend lets his guitar and an Bettina Hummler on the piano do the talking, supported by a band that carries the story with grace and depth. Like its predecessor, «I Don’t Need More» was recorded live in a single take – raw, intimate, and real.
