In a bold homage to one of electronic music’s most legendary compositions, Fantomacs announces the release of “Oxygène Pt. 4”, a richly reimagined cover of Jean-Michel Jarre’s groundbreaking 1976 track. Revered as a cornerstone of electronic music, the original "Oxygène Pt. 4" introduced generations to the expressive potential of synthesizers. Nearly five decades later, Fantomacs breathes new life into the classic, pushing sonic boundaries beyond the analog limitations of the past.
Crafted exclusively using the Roland Fantom synthesizer, this new version envelops listeners in lush textures, deeply layered atmospheres, and a polyphonic richness that transcends the original’s vintage constraints. The result is not merely a cover, but a contemporary interpretation—respectfully grounded in the DNA of Jarre’s vision, yet elevated with modern production capabilities and immersive depth.
“In many ways, this release is both a tribute and a reinvention,” says Fantomacs. “The goal was to preserve the timeless spirit of Jarre’s work while using today’s tools to explore new sonic dimensions that weren’t accessible in 1976.”
Listeners can expect a hypnotic journey—filled with airy pads, pulsating sequences, and a sweeping spatial soundstage—that honors the original’s melodic core while offering a fresh auditory experience for a new generation.
“Oxygène Pt. 4” by Fantomacs is now available on all major streaming platforms and as a high-resolution download. A limited-edition CD release will follow in May 2025.
