‘Receive And Transform’ understands receiving, absorbing and accepting as the first step in (further) creation. Impressions, information and demands are constant companions, but reception does not necessarily mean remaining passive. Transformation begins where sounds, sights, sensations, smells and experiences are transformed and resonance can give rise to action. What if?

The piece attempts to explore this and builds on itself: the sequence of sounds is altered, overlaid and folded by reamping. Movement grows out of the repetitions of this one melody, and a process develops out of its layers. ‘Receive And Transform’ is change in miniature form, which at the same time suggests a personal attitude on a larger scale: change is possible if we not only carry what we receive, but also reshape it – and become an active part of the listening process itself.
