As we leave the trail, the moonlight easing up the darkness Down to the waiting beach, and stripping off our shoes
Run to the breaking surf, the steady gust is ruffling our hair Taste the salty spindrift toes digging in the sand
C/B D2 Em G And as we take the leap waves breaking over our heads And as we hold our breath the current gently drawing our hands
And as we soak it up the shifting ground grabs our toes And then we’re pushing off C/B D2 Em A2 boldly daring the wide open
We leave the broken coast, and all you lazy, vengeful drifters keep an even stroke, mindful of the waiting abyss
The current pulls us out - along the shifting highway floating on our backs the universe in our sight
