An audio tone poem paying homage to the awe-inspiring nature of experiencing fog. The duo spent time in Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and the Pacific Northwest, where they continually encountered mystifying fog. Inspired by both the wonder and fear that this natural phenomenon conjures up, they began to write songs centered around fog. Conceptually, the tracks grew to encompass mental and physical fog, addressing current themes both social and political.
Musically, an interest in electro and found sounds informed the work. The current piece also features layers of strings, cathedral organ, choral and vintage synth sounds – all new territory for the duo.
Recorded in Portland (Oregon, US), Basel (Switzerland) and Vaksdal (Norway), it is a journal of the group’s travels. A little bit of each destination – in the form of found sounds – has made it into the final recordings, allowing the listener to journey with the group.
