1st STROPHE

Why did you have to come around?
Why did you lead me on shifting ground?
My life was good, was alright,
you paid no thought, to change it overnight.

I guarded jealously my peace.
Let no one disturb my precious ease.
My husk had become thick and strong.
I felt invincible, but I was wrong.

I was on my own, but I was well,
felt safe, like an oyster in it’s shell.

2nd STROPHE

I condemn the day you came.
You forced me to play your vicious game.
Who I say, gave you the right,
to intrude my life and hurt my pride?

My soul aches like from a cut,
you’re the grain in the oyster’s flesh.
But my thoughts turn round and round you,
until the wound sparkles like morning dew.

3rd STROPHE

Nothing’s the same as before,
love or hate they don’t matter anymore.
Mother-of-pearl around the thorn,
is my love forgotten, is all my scorn.

Oh, I know there’ll be a day,
someone will come and take my pearl away.
And the day you’ll say goodbye,
is the day the oyster has to die.
