Ta Mère is an indie rock band from Solothurn that was founded in 2015. The band consists of the brothers Mauro and Fabio Kiener and Julian Steffen. The three boys had previously played together in other bands and started their three-piece band in 2012, but under a different name. In the early days, they mainly played instrumental songs. Over time, however, vocals became an increasingly important part of the music. The sound is characterized by a mix of indie rock, funk, disco, garage rock and space rock. Over the years, synthesizers and drum pads were added to the three basic instruments of guitar, bass and drums. However, the basic idea behind composing the songs remained the same: the music should encourage people to dance. If you're going to a Ta Mère concert, you should definitely bring your dancing shoes!
The first two concerts under the name Ta Mère took place as part of the Open Air Etziken band contest at the Kulturfabrik Kofmehl. This was won immediately, so that the band's third appearance was already at a regionally known open air in Switzerland. The next milestone followed in the winter of the same year, when Ta Mère opened for Bonaparte in the large hall at Kofmehl. In 2016, the band took part in the Emergenza Band Contest. This included two concerts at Gaskessel Bern and the final at Bierhübeli, which was the three Solothurn natives' first trip outside the canton. This opened the door for further appearances in the Bern and Biel regions. In the time that followed, Ta Mère played several concerts in the Solothurn area, including at Rothaus, Kulturm, Kofmehl and the HESO. The time was now ripe to record their first album in the studio. This was followed by a first performance in Zurich at the Lauter Festival in Stall 6. The completion of the recordings was duly celebrated with an EP release party, again at Kofmehl.
Since then, the band has been on the road regionally and is currently writing a new album. The Gurten would be the best place in the world to present the new songs!
