Charlie Gilbert started to play guitar in the early 80's. In the 90's, he developed a passion for the Blues. He moved to Kenya in 2000, where he founded the rock band "The Beathogs" with David Rinck (USA). Back in Switzerland in 2009, Charlie Gilbert joined the last line-up of The Rose Beef Blues Band, under the leadership of René Mayr. At the end of 2013, René Mayr dissolved the band because of health issues.
In 2014, Charlie Gilbert recruited musicians for his own combo, called Charlie Gilbert & The Rockin' Bluesmen. The first concerts were performed as a trio. In 2015, Jean-Marc Rueff joined the band on keyboard for the two coming years. Sidjou Schoni came along on trumpet. In 2016, Pascal Droux joined as the latest bass player.
In 2017, the name of the band was changed into "Charlie Gilbert &The Boogie Heads", due to a more electric sound resulting from the arrivals of Charlie G on lead guitar, active in rock bands since the 70's and Angelo Oliva on drums, who cumulates 15 years of experience in blues and rock bands.
The Band set list includes Chicago Blues titles, Boogie Rock tunes, vintage 60's rock, and a couple of songs composed by Charlie Gilbert himself. A full concert by Charlie Gilbert & The Boogie Heads can last up to 4 hours!
