Biography
This Swiss saxophonist, pianist, songwriter has an intriguing background having studied jazz and Moroccan music at the Berklee College of Music and also travelled to India to study the rich heritage of classical music of the country.
With a performance experience ranging from street shows in Europe/USA early on in her career to large stages such as the Afro-Pfingsten Festival, Volkshaus Zurich or the Open Air Visp, Monika is at home on any stage and was recently invited to perform as a guest on a show at the Zermatt Unplugged Festival in the Swiss Alps.
Featuring searching, reflective piano motifs, soaring cello and saxophone melodies, haunting vocals and gently colliding cross-rhythms, Monika Tiken presents a deeply compelling series of musical vignettes that touch deep into the soul.
