It is spell-binding to see the band intensify and interpret this as well as the other songs live, adding urgency and impetuosity in comparison to the studio versions, which Tom Huber recorded almost single-handedly.

Die psychotisch langsamen, elektrofizierten Songs von «Playing With The Goats» haben fast alle einen sentimentalgenialen Rock-’n’-Roll- oder Country-Touch. Trends und Klischees sind ihm ein Graus. Hubers Klangwelten sind geprägt von Gegensätzen und vermeintlichen Widersprüchen. Sein Album lässt sich kaum einordnen. Stile wie Country, Metal, Folk, Industrial und Psychodelic finden hier ungezwungen zusammen und werden von Tom Huber zu herrlich geheimnisvoll dahindriftenden Songs verbunden. Irgendwo zwischen Beck, Fantomas und Mr. Bungle, aber nicht so hektisch. Mal scheint es der perfekte Soundtrack zu einem Surffilm zu sein, dann vielleicht zu einem existenzialistisch aufgeladenen Roadmovie, und dann klopft Huber seine staubigen Stiefel vor irgendeiner Saloon-Tür ab. Dabei beweist er ein feines Gespür für Melodien und Stimmungen. "Playing For The Goats" steht extrem quer in der Landschaft und ist bestimmt nichts zum Schnellverzehr nebenbei.
