Tom Silkman is the solo project of Lucerne based Thomas Seidmann, the lead singer and guitarist of the up-and-coming psychedelic rock band Yet No Yokai. Intensive songwriting and recording are part of his daily routine.
Falling On Feathers (2024): After the singer-songwriter album High On Sci-Fi, Tom Silkman expands his subsequent productions with more instrumentalisation and takes a turn towards psychedelic indie rock. In collaboration with drummer and percussionist Silvan Schmid (Black Sea Dahu, STRUKTURSTRUKTUR) and bassist Gregory Schärer (Argyle), the first songs have been self-produced, including Falling On Feathers - an homage to making music, wrapped in a psychedelic folk rock vibe. Further releases are already being planned.
High On Sci-Fi (2023): The driving ideas for the first solo album are minimalism, a sonic nod to psychedelic music, repetitive strumming patterns, a warm analogue feel of 70's singer-songwriter tape recordings and painting contrasting pictures about stories of being human in a sci-fi world. Influences of Nick Drake, Kurt Vile, José González, Ty Segall are clearly audible.
The self-produced and self-released singer-songwriter album "High On Sci-Fi" (Fuzztronaut Records) with ten songs and an idiosyncratic lo-fi signature resulted from the process.
