Biographie
In 1998 Marcelo Madeira founded the Band Tupinikings producing the CD Pimenta Malagueta.
Quickly the CD stood out in the independent scenery of São Paulo. With Gabriela´s irresistible sweet voice, own music, poetic lyrics, the band gained recognition in the night life scene.
There were countless performances in Blen Blen Brasil, Pororoca, Radiola, Piratas do Tiête, Projeto Equilíbrio, Da Mata, Café Piu Piu, Centro Cultural de São Paulo, USP, Teatro Tuca, Concha Acústica de Osasco, in cable TV programs and on TV Cultura broadcast all over the country.
The release of the CD “Pimenta Malagueta” was mentioned in the Jazz and Brazilian music program on Radio BBC London.
The song “Pimenta Malagueta”, a tribute to Dionisyus, the Greek God of wine and of the theater, was performed in the play “Bacantes” directed by Zé Celso Martinez Corrêa.
The song “Menina d´água” was included on the soundtrack of the movie “Dinner Rush” a Hollywood independent production, directed by Bob Giraldi, chosen by the magazine Newsweek as one of the best 15 movies of 2001.
The success of the picture took Love Cats Music to include four tracks in the collection “Brazilian Beat - Bossa Nova and Samba Vol.1” in the United States.
In 2000 Tupinikings played in the program “Turma da Cultura” on TV Cultura, broadcast all over the country .
In 2002 “Eliot Music” releases in Ibiza, under the title “Prazer”, 4 re-mixes of the song “Bel Prazer”, during one of the most important meetings of DJ's in Europe.
The song “Menina D´água” was included on the soundtrack of the picture “White Oleander” directed by Peter Kosminsky and distributed by Warner Bros in 2002, with Michele Pfeiffer and Renée Zellweger.
