Andrew Bayuk and Anisah Alyahya, the duo behind Venusia, view themselves as paradigm-shifting facilitators of the human condition. Both are doctors, scientists, philosophers, musicians, and artists. Together they have bridged cultures and known the pain of isolation and separation the way everyone does. Those experiences provided them the base material to alchemize the shadows of humankind into the music and lyrics they create. Venusia was born out of their empathy for the human experience, which came from having lived and navigated its challenges.
Venusia is the music voice of the wider Venusia Project, which extends into writing, art, and video. The songs are built from two voices trading the lead, acoustic guitar, live bass and drums, piano, and cello … cinematic pop and indie rock with classical lines running underneath.
Their debut album, Light Waves, is the culmination of six years of exploration and personal play, weaving together tales of unconditional love and shadow work with calls to action for peace and empathy in a fragmented world.
