The band was founded in 1987/1988 as a typical college band.
Influenced by the early 70's and 80's, the band played a very unconventional style with walls of synth's, synthbase and guitars.
After a many concerts( together with the early Lovebugs and other Basle locals), tapes and a mini-ep, the original band line up split in 1991.
End of 1991 Waveriders was reformed with a new base guitar player and singer. Now the sound was reduced to the max, base, drums and two real guitars.
The band played many concerts in whole Switzerland. On top of their way the band split due to musical differences, after recording the LP BFree and played a handful gigs in the Basle area.
