He could have stuck to his previous recipe: radio-friendly pop with an acoustic guitar. But then BAUM went to New York, soaked up the Big Apple's energy and wrote eleven songs in just two weeks, mainly using cranked-up guitar amps, mighty drums, and punchy basslines. The result is «Kingdom Of The Upright Man», an album that shows the energy of a man who has learned to stand tall and fight for his ideals.
«In this fast-paced world, music is the best way to challenge superficiality. There are no artsy-fartsy gimmicks, and this is no elevator background music, but honest songs that reflect what I think and how I feel,» he says. «My stories should encourage people to pursue their goals, to lose themselves in my sound, and to find themselves in my lyrics.»
BAUM's career includes solo support tours for artists such as Van Morrison and The John Butler Trio, five Irish and two Germany tours, appearances at the Openair St. Gallen, Gurtenfestival, Stimmen Festival, Baloise Session, Summerstage Basel and around 300 Concerts in Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, and the USA. BAUM has released four albums and three EPs, seven of his songs were placed in the US documentary series «Take a Seat: Egypt», his single «Home One Day» ran on the soundtrack of the German comedy movie «Verrückt nach Fixi», and his current album «Kingdom Of The Upright Man» was BAUM's first longplayer to hit the Swiss album charts.
