Florencia Yunis
the flower of Latin music, grown in a Swiss garden
Anyone who releases Latin pop in Switzerland, has to get past Loco Escrito first. Unless you've been discovered by the quadruple Swiss Music Award winner himself. Her name is Florencia Yunis. Her sound: a mix of pop, reggaeton and r'n'b with catchy bop potential. We could be in for a real treat!
Her nickname "Flor" - flower in Spanish - says it all: Florencia Yunis is fresh, sweet and puts everyone around her in a good mood. And the talented singer from Switzerland is just about to blossom within the Swiss music landscape.
Born in Munich to a German-Argentinean mother and a professional Argentinean tennis player, Florencia spent the first seven years of her life in Buenos Aires. Then the family moved to Altstätten (St. Gallen). Florencia's mother, who not only sings in various bands, but also sets the tone at home - purely musically, of course - ensures that not only sports blossom at home. After the mandatory school flute lessons, little "Flor" tries her hand at the harp and the violin, but eventually settles on the guitar, and later teaches herself to play the piano.
She first lends her voice to a children's choir, later to the youth pop choir. She takes singing lessons, sings in a band, and performs in local musicals. At 15, she starts writing her own songs. In English, "because that's what everyone was doing", like her role models such as Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter or Maddison Beer. At some point Florencia realised: " I can actually express myself much better in my mother tongue". Since then, the now 22-year-old has been singing in Spanish - and doing it so well that even the Latino King has noticed her.
When she uploaded a short video to a song on Instagram, Loco Escrito followed her the next day. Her boss encouraged the trained beautician to get in touch with him. And so, matters take their course: A few months later, Florencia Yunis goes into the studio with Loco Escrito and a few weeks later she is backing up her mentor at his summer gigs, where she also performs her own song "Nubes". And that's not all: she also managed to get a record deal. And that's only the beginning. Because if things continue at this pace, the flower of Latin music from Switzerland could blossom into quite the bouquet.
