Biography

"Loupnoir is the perfect introduction to our sound. Starting out with synths, a saxophone, and sensual vocals, this could easily be the intro of a French B-movie from the 1970s. But just when the voice lulls you into a false sense of security, all hell breaks loose: musical bullets rain down on you and there is nowhere to hide. This is not just a love story, this is also a thriller!
A signature feature of our sound is that we unite different musical genres and forms, and having “Loupnoir” as the album opener really reflects that. We decided to expand our cinematic French sound with delicate Baroque elements and added contrast with loud, bluesy eruptions. The lyrics by our singer Andrea then top the song off with a sense of broken-hearted, existential mystery and bring up themes of the French “nouvelle vague”: loneliness, the pains of dealing with the past, and the gentle and violent duality of love."
