Backstory by Jyri the director
Before we left for our sabbatical to North Africa, I got a song for the road: a demo version of "Now we start to see the beauty." Then in March 2020, when the virus suddenly turned the world upside down and my family was stranded at a campsite near Marrakech, I rode my bike into town once a week to buy groceries. I was completely alone on the wide streets. Life outside was on hold. It was as if I had stepped out of camping into a world where no one dared to walk or breathe. Enjoying the emptiness while cycling, I unconsciously looked for places to film. In exchange with the campground neighbors (a DOP from Germany), the concept for the cinematic realization of loneliness came up and the idea for the music video was born. The line "the dinosaur has come to town, does she feel safe when he's around?" opened up a new perspective on the situation we were in: In Europe the first institutions to open up the doors, where the schools. The smallest, the toughest of the society, but also the most vulnerable where send back first into the “wild”. Will the children feel safe again when we, the adults, are out in the world together with them again?
