MrMessy – Biography
MrMessy had been sitting for years on his electronica-inspired songs. Like an alchemist, he was searching for a golden musical formula. And he found it, though he couldn’t remember exactly how. Before shouting “Eureka!” to the world, a man called Mr. Murphy came to visit him. It happened how it was meant to happen: the digital abyss opened. The feeling of having created something musical disintegrated when the hard drive crashed and burned, or so we thought… Almost everything was lost. All our finished work, and most importantly: the secret formulas! Everything, gone. MrMessy could only poke at the electronic ashes, and only four badly damaged songs emerged. They had been comatose for many years. The loss was profound and nobody dared to reanimate them. Consequently, MrMessy’s name gained a completely new meaning with the disaster and a heavy cloud of dust hovered over the song patients for a long time. The loss would be overcome, but would not be forgotten.
Meanwhile, MrMessy became a producer and supported these bands in their creative work: HNO, Swedish, Junes, Frantic, Gigi Moto, MyKungFu, Al-Berto & The Fried Bikinis, Yes I’m Very Tired Now, WolfWolf, and From Kid.
In 2013, a young assistant, who had recently been hired to work for MrMessy's Foodcorner Studio, found a dusty and yellowed box in the catacombs of the studio.
And in this box were the almost forgotten remains of the songs of MrMessy. A spark kindled MrMessy’s interest. We dusted off the old box, repaired the hard drive with renewed enthusiasm, and revived the songs! And it turned out that the old songs were surprisingly contemporary and warmed their hearts. And one of the songs, Nomen est Omen, symbolises the new brilliance: Cleaning Up.
