Silence. A small flicker here, a little breeze there. Nothing lasting. Only a marginal phenomenon in a cosmos that has not waited for it. Disappointment spreads slowly. Once again you return to your place in the darkness. From where you can see him even better, your neighbor. Seemingly effortlessly he is up there shining, without really doing anything for it.
The third single from We the Young is about how you can lose yourself in the search for recognition. How you devalue your own actions, doubt yourself and resign when success fails to materialize - and the original joy gives way to a dull feeling of emptiness and jealousy.
