Cross This Bridge And Live
I’m standing on the bridge,
A crossroad between this plain of existence and the next.
Where do I come from?
My mind churns in deep ponder.
Where am I going?
The question gnaws at my heart like a deer thirsty for water.
Will I go to Heaven if I jump?
Something holds me back, but I can’t tell what it is.
I don’t want to jump,
Yet I can’t help the feeling of fear in my throat like a lump.
I don’t want to be afraid anymore.
Yet I am afraid of life,
A truth that pierces my core,
Like the sharp end of a knife.
Everything I know has become meaningless,
A fleeting vapor or chasing after the wind.
The truth has lost its power over me.
But that can’t be, for without the spiritual world man is blind.
But the eyes must lose their tears, to see clearly.
To see that though I may be broken, truth still heals.
And for this reason I must live.
Not for myself, but for those who would find truth through me.
I want to live. I want to cross this bridge and live.
