The song is about finding and holding on to the place where you thrive. Or, if not a place, then a mindset, a sense of selfhood, or another person.

«When I travel, I do so to find something that resonates with me. Usually, these places have a rugged magic to themselves. One of those places has always been Scotland, because of its northern beauty, its vibrant music scene, and its friendly people.
The thistle is the national flower of Scotland, and the silver thistle found in the Swiss Alps is one of my favorite flowers. It represents a prickly, uneasy beauty that persists. Some might call it a weed, and it often grows between cracks, but it has its place and its use. The song reflects these qualities. It embraces otherness, coming to terms with who and what you are, and the ups and downs that come with it.»
