“New Dawn” was created in 2023 as a collaboration with Masa Awad, who is from the Middle East. It was also reviewed by Masa’s brother who is a music teacher, to make sure that the music properly reflects their cultural perspective without appropriation. The idea behind the song is to navigate the feelings and the tensions of one of the hardest moments that you might go through, and how to, in the midst of that, be able to say, “there will a new dawn.” It expresses resiliency, hope, endurance, and a bigger-picture-perspective, without dismissing your personal and current reality. The theme of “new dawn” comes across in the whole song as it starts by referencing that hour before the sunrise, and it evolves to the point when you start seeing glimpses of light, until the moment that it’s confirmed that the sun is rising - a new dawn is on the horizon!
