Lauber’s heart is beating. With blunt charm and Swiss dialect, Lauber addresses big questions and simple truths. He avoids platitudes and clichés and takes the depth of the emotional world seriously: his songs revolve around longing, connection, and the need to understand the world - honestly, plainly, and fearlessly deeply.
Rooted in theater and film music, with branches in indie folk, Lauber consciously stands between worlds. His music is narrative, dramaturgically sensitive, and sonically idiosyncratic. With an affinity for language and harmonic twists that break familiar chord progressions, his songs are like autumn leaves: delicate but powerful. Inspired by Benjamin Clementine, Leif Vollebekk, and Rachel Sermanni - and influenced by Mani Matter, Sophie Hunger, and Faber - he has created a contemporary, independent form of Swiss Indie.
Lauber's live act presents the songs in different formations. Depending on the setting, Lauber is accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Janos Mijnssen (Faber, Panda Lux) and drummer Alon Ben (Black Sea Dahu), performs with live strings, or plays solo. The focus is always on immediate storytelling and the fully acoustic, portable Keybird piano, which is both the sonic heart and visual unique selling point.
Lauber is the singer-songwriter project of Dominic Röthlisberger, composer and producer with a master's degree in composition for film, theater, and media. In recent years, Röthlisberger has composed and released music for theater productions in Switzerland and abroad. During a residency at the Cité des Arts in Paris (2023), he devoted himself to songwriting and developed material for an entire LP. In close collaboration with producer Janos Mijnssen and drummer Alon Ben, the debut EP so chlopft's will be released in spring 2026. It features the string quartet Amour sur Mars (Patrick Watson, Sophie Hunger) and flugelhorn player Sonja Ott (Tie Drei, Patent Ochsner), among others. The mix is by Jo Francken (Tamino, Milow), and the mastering is by Giles Hauert (San Silvan, Faber).
With so chlopft's, Lauber marks the beginning of his singer-songwriter project and delivers a haunting EP that goes straight to the heart.
